Our Model
Magic Cycle’s decentralized community-based model allows for healthy food to move organically through trusted local relationships and real-time community interactions. Volunteers regularly encounter individuals and families experiencing unexpected hardship while moving food through their routes and local networks.
In one instance, a volunteer distributing surplus milk met a mother stranded at a gas station with car trouble while returning from a delivery route. What began as a simple offer of help became nourishment shared across multiple households, including neighbors and extended family.
These kinds of community connections are not unusual within Magic Cycle’s model. By empowering local volunteers and trusted community members to participate directly in food recovery and redistribution, healthy food is often able to reach people and places that more centralized systems may overlook.
